Due to a cruel twist of fate, I got laid off. I didn't know what to feel besides anger and frustration. I was mad that I got fired, straight up. I also wanted to blame myself for the situation. I later found out that lay offs are usually business based and not performance dictated. A former colleague later informed me that the company dismantled our whole group and decided to terminate my position. My former manager said he is willing to write me a letter of recommendation so I apparently was meeting expectations. Their SG&A was too high and they needed to make some changes and meet earnings. I am now beginning the quest for a new career. I am very qualified and capable to do many a role at many types of companies. I'm an Electrical Engineer by degree and I've had roles in sales, marketing, management, product management, and engineering. Many companies have leadership engagement programs where they rotate employees to multiple organizations for specific durations. I created my own rotation and stayed in each role for a about to years in most cases. I hope the companies I am looking can see the benefits of my diverse resume. I created a solid career plan designed to give me the appropriate experience to run a company. I will continue to grow but I've seen every part of a company save operations. I'm still not sure how much there is to gain by taking on that type of rule, but experience is always the best way to get credibility.
