Why does everyone care about Iowa so much?

Congrats to Obama and Huckabee on their Iowa victories. It interesting how big of a deal the media makes this. There is no tangible reason why Iowa is important. Iowa gets so much attention because it is the first primary of many. I personally would not think that makes a big deal but politics ride on the bandwagon. Momentum can carry a politician and Iowa is the grand opening.
